Vacation part 12: Niagara Falls - Journey behind the Falls

The Journey behind the Falls consists of an observation platform close to the Horseshoe Falls and a tunnel behind the Horseshoe Falls. You can see the how close the platform to the Falls is on the next pictures.

On our way to the platform, the attendants took a picture of us against a green background again, hoping we would pay a lot of money for it again, but we disappointed them - we didn't buy the picture in the end, as we already knew it would not be worth the money. We received rain coats again and most of us wore them too!

The platform offered a great view of the Horseshoe Falls and it provided a nice background for photos.

We were so close to the Horseshoe Falls that you could almost feel the water. The presence of rainbow made the whole image even more beautiful.

This video will give you a better idea how great it was.

We were also able to see the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, and the Rainbow Bridge.

Then we walked through the tunnels to the Portals. There are two portals and they take you literally a few meters from the falling water. There is just the railing between you and the forces of nature.

And this is the video captured from inside the portal.

The light wasn't certainly ideal for taking pictures in the tunnels, but we at least managed to catch a few silhouettes on the camera. Although the silhouettes are very dark, you can clearly see that two of the ghosts hold each other's hands. Guess who they are!

Dar came out in much better light though!

On our way back to the surface, we saw an information board telling us that we have travelled around 200 meters, or one third of the whole width of the Horseshoe Falls. Impressive!
