Vacation part 11: Niagara Falls - siesta

After the Maid of the Mist ride, we stopped in the souvenir shop near the Maid of the Mist dock and then we continued towards the Whirlpool Aero Car. It's a cable car that takes passengers over the whirlpool downstream from the Falls. We knew that the Aero Car is downstream and our map confirmed it, so we started to walk down the river. After a while, we made it to the Rainbow Bridge. The arch bridge spans the Niagara River and connects the Canadian and the American side.

There's also a viewing platform near the Rainbow Bridge on the American side. It looks like a beginning of a bridge or a bridge that leads nowhere. On the first picture from the following set, you can see it between the American Falls and the Rainbow Bridge, and on the remaining pictures it's the structure near the left edge of the photo.

When we were near the bridge, John pointed out that maps are often not to scale. Though our map was showing the Whirlpool close to the Rainbow Bridge, we still could not see any trace of the Whirlpool or the Aero car, so after a short discussion we decided to change plans and slowly head to the Journey behind the Falls. The next day we realized that the Aero Car was more than three kilometers from the Rainbow Bridge, so it was definitely a wise decision.

The entrance to the Journey behind the Falls was obviously near the Horseshoe Falls, so we had to go back a bit. We passed the American Falls again.

At that time, it was around 3pm, so the sun shining from the south west and the Falls being north east of us gave us a wonderful opportunity to see the American Falls with a rainbow.

As we were closing the Horseshoe Falls, we took a few more pictures of the mist above the water. The mist that we were just in!

The Journey behind the Falls was pretty busy, so after we bought the tickets, we had to wait for about an hour before it was our turn. We spent most of that time on a platform with a nice view of the Horseshoe Falls.

And we kept waving on the camera.

And we kept making fun of each other. You know, one can never have enough bunny ears!

And Nicole certainly didn't fall asleep. Totally not!

And we even saw a bunny squirrel!
