Ruzyně International Airport part 14: Czech Air Force

Airplanes that carry the president, ministers, and other VIP connected with the government are often the pride of the airline (or army) that runs them. Oh yes. See for yourself!

The old Russian Tu-154M airplanes that the Czech Air Force was using to transport state officials were having a sudden defect just before takeoff more often than not, so once the officials realized the world is laughing at them, the Czech Air Force bought two brand new Airbus A319CJ. The letters CJ stand for Corporate Jet. The difference between the standard airline version and a CJ version is most importantly the fact that the CJ version can be configured in many ways: all business class, maximum passengers, and even a flying hospital. The reconfiguration is pretty simple and takes about 12 hours.

So stop laughing now, even the Czech Republic state officials now use a state-of-the-art aircraft, so it's unlikely that they would again be delayed on their return from a state visit because the old Tu-154M aircraft is so noisy that it's not allowed to land in most European cities during the night!
